Student Friendly Mark Scheme- Critical Research

- awesome analysis of films
- loads of references are explained in detail from reviews, critics and theorists
- use and apply the theories of critics to the films analysed
- creativity in my approach - use of stills, quotes, font and structure
- conclude and evaluate findings well in all paragraphs
- write in proper good English
- reference like a don
- use correct film terminology

Class work in double lesson - 9th Sep 2014

1. Prepare to present your ideas to the class. You have 15 minutes to do so. We will then individually present them to the group and offer suggestions as a class.

2. Using the embedding feature on YouTube, post 6 primary texts which you will include in your work. Within that, analyse key features of mise-en-scene, lighting, camerawork, them, narrative etc. Make sure they all relate to your area of focus within your research questions.

3. Lastly, link to the following:
- critics opinions 
- reviews of primary texts
- directorial interview (you may wish to embed these if on YouTube)

We will present everyone's findings apin the last 30 minutes of the lesson...

Homework: Organise a date when you can all go to London and visit the British Library... Theories are imperative!

- Influence of German Expressionism on Tim Burton.
- Could Drive be considered neo-noir?
- Influence of marxism on Bollywood.
- To what extent does the film Stoker include elements of Hitchcock's influence?
- Influence of simulacra in contemporary cinema.
- Progression of crime portrayed in film through different eras.
- Oedipal (psychoanalysis) and Promethean themes in contemporary cinema.
- Feminist film theory - 80s to contemporary Hollywood (mainly Mulvey's female gaze).
- Representation of women in Korean cinema.

TASK: Brainstorm what elements can be researched in this section.

6. Produce 5 ROUGH research ideas to be presented at the end of the lesson.
